A Heat Advisory is in effect from 12:00 p.m. Saturday to 11:00 p.m. Sunday for much of southern Oregon.

Forecasters at the National Weather Service said high temperatures between 90 and near 100 degrees are expected.

The Advisory area includes central Douglas County and its eastern foothills, Josephine and Jackson counties, eastern Curry County, the Siskiyou Mountains and the Southern Oregon Cascades.

Forecasters said a period of near record heat is expected over the west side valleys Saturday into Sunday. It will be slow to cool off on Saturday night, especially in more urban areas.

For Roseburg, the record high temperatures for the date are 96 degrees for Saturday and 97 degrees for Sunday. They were set in 1939 and 2014, respectively.

Residents should drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Young children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles.
