Deputies with the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office jailed a woman Friday, for allegedly initiating a false report.

Information from DCSO said the 39-year old Myrtle Creek woman reported a stolen vehicle back in January. It was later determined to be a false report. The suspect allegedly had an insurance company pay out $6,800 for the false vehicle theft. The company wanted the woman prosecuted for the incident.

She was contacted in the 100 block of Harry Lane in the Myrtle Creek area Friday evening and taken into custody. The woman was charged with first-degree theft and for initiating a false report. She was released on Saturday.
