SPRING TOURISM GRANT CYCLE OPENS IN ROSEBURG

May 5, 2023 3:00 a.m.

The Roseburg Community Development Department has begun taking applications for spring 2023 tourism grants.

A City of Roseburg release said successful applicants may win grants up to $5,000 or even more to help draw visitors to Roseburg and the Umpqua Valley. The Community Development Department and the Roseburg Economic Development Commission will take applications until June 23rd at 5:00 p.m.

The program is funded through the Roseburg motel/hotel lodging tax collected inside the city limits. For this cycle, applications will be accepted from registered businesses, registered 501 C 3 organizations and other 501 C tax-exempt organizations and governmental entities.

The release said grants are typically awarded for things like advertising, publicizing or distributing information to market special events and festivals designed to attract and welcome tourists at tourism-related facilities, or capital improvement projects that have a substantial purpose of supporting tourism or accommodating tourism activities.

The commission is especially interested in events that entice people to visit between Labor Day and Memorial Day, but all applications are strongly encouraged. The Economic Tourism Commission will review and consider all applications and vote on submissions on Tuesday, July 11th.
