Organized Bike Ride Opportunities for National Bike Month

5/4/2023 5:30 a.m.

May is national bike month and Thrive Umpqua has opportunities to celebrate with upcoming bike rides and events.

On Friday bicycle riders are invited to join Thrive Umpqua, Bike Walk Roseburg, and the Umpqua Velo Club for a Cinco de Mayo evening ride.

Bicyclists will meet at 6:00 p.m. at the Thrive Umpqua office on Southeast Jackson Street in downtown Roseburg.

From there riders will enjoy a neighborhood ride ending at Salud Brewery for Cinco de Mayo specials.

Easy, beginner level bike rides are continuing every Tuesday evening in Roseburg.

Hosted by the Umpqua Velo Club and Thrive Umpqua, the ride starts at 6:00 p.m. from the Stewart Park train.

Organizers said these rides are designed to be accessible to those who are just learning or who haven’t been on a bike in a while.

Free helmets are available while supplies last, and fun prizes are given away each week.

A bike fair has been set for Friday, May 19th from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the basketball courts by the YMCA in Roseburg.

Families are encouraged to ride, or take, their bikes to the event.

Try out the bike skills obstacle course, play games, win prizes, explore special activities, and have a helmet fitting while you learn easy bike maintenance tips.

A food truck will be at the event, and bike fair participants will receive a special discount on their meal.

Free bikes and helmets will be available while supplies last.

The Bike Fair is hosted by Thrive Umpqua, Thundering Water Upstream Health and Wellness, Roseburg Parks and Recreation, and the Umpqua Velo Club.
