Roseburg woman identified as victim in homicide

A 52-year-old Roseburg woman has been identified as the victim of Sunday’s homicide in the Green District.

According to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a residence in the 4,000 block of Carnes Road around 2:30 p.m. after 9-1-1 dispatchers were notified of a reported homicide. When deputies, along with officers from Winston and Roseburg Police Departments, arrived at the home they found Tonya Cathleen Ball deceased.

Roseburg resident William James Tiemann was later arrested and charged with second degree murder.

The 45-year-old was arraigned on Monday and ordered held without bail, according to The News-Review. The newspaper reports that Tiemann’s next court appearance will be a status check at 8:30 a.m. May 8 in front of Douglas County Circuit Court Judge Steve Hoddle.

The Douglas County Major Crimes Team is investigating the homicide, with the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office assigned as the lead agency.
