The YMCA of Douglas County is having its annual Healthy Kids Day on Saturday.
A YMCA release said the event is celebrated at nearly 1,600 Ys across the country and aims to get more kids moving and learning, so they can keep up the habit all summer long. That’s considered a critical out-of-school time for kid’s health.
The event will run from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. and will be held in the large gymnasium, People attending should come through the Parkview Skating Rink entrance.
There will be lots of games and prizes, a bounce house, active play and demonstrations, free snacks, a Douglas County Sheriff’s Office Rescue Boat, educational activities and more. The Roseburg Fire Department will be there and a REACH helicopter will land at the event.
The 13th annual Water Safety Day will be happening at the same time. Lifejackets will be given away while supplies last. The child must be present to receive one. Free swim testing will be done in the pool from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
