Deputies with the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office jailed a Glide area man after an alleged theft incident on Wednesday.
A DCSO report said a deputy received information about a disabled vehicle near the intersection of Bonifacio and Del Rio Road. He contacted two people and learned that one person’s vehicle had broken down and they were trying to be it operational. The pair said the vehicle would be moved as soon as possible so the deputy left.
Later, just after 3:30 p.m. the deputy got a call which said the subjects were still there and that some mail had been stolen in the area. The deputy contacted the 35-year old man who took responsibility for taking the packages. His probation officer issued a detainer due to the new crime.
The man was charged with third-degree theft and for a probation violation. He was detained without bail.
