Roseburg Police jailed a man following alleged criminal mischief and an alleged assault on an officer Tuesday afternoon.

An RPD report said at 5:20 p.m. 27-year old Vicente Diaz allegedly broke two windows at a stranger’s home in the 1300 block of Southeast Mill Street. Diaz reportedly tied to force himself inside while the homeowner held the door closed. Diaz then allegedly attempted to enter another person’s home before leaving the area.

The report said multiple people followed Diaz while waiting for police to arrive. Diaz allegedly resisted arrest and punched a police officer in the face before being taken into custody.

Diaz was charged with assaulting a public safety officer, second-degree counts of criminal mischief, disorderly conduct and criminal trespass, resisting arrest and for a parole violation. He was detained without bail.
