COMMISSIONERS WELCOMED GLIDE REVITALIZATION FOR A PRESENTATION

March 30, 2023 3:40 a.m.

Douglas County Commissioners recently welcomed Glide Revitalization Chief Financial Officer Jeana Beam to a weekly board meeting for a special presentation and update on the group’s ongoing efforts in the Glide community.

Originally founded to encourage economic development, Glide Revitalization has become the liaison for both community members, volunteers and government agencies.

A County release said Beam shared with the board the current status of the work still being done in support of the survivors of the Archie Creek fire which took place in September of 2020. Beam said the group distributed over $648,000 in 2022 and over $206,000 so far in 2023. All of that has gone directly to individuals affected by the fires. The organization also distributed over $167,000 last year for reforestation and will be distributing close to $250,000 for reforestation projects this year. This winter they placed a total of 400,000 trees in the ground. They plan to continue to work with wildfire survivors even after the state case support ends through community donations and unrestricted funds.

Residents can watch a recording of the presentation on the Douglas County government website at: https://video.ibm.com/recorded/132647335

Jeana Beam will talk more about the work of the non-profit organization on Inside Douglas County Monday at 12:30 p.m. on News Radio 93-9 FM and 1240 KQEN
