WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY THURSDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH FRIDAY MORNING ABOVE 1,500 FEET

A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect from 5:00 p.m. Thursday to 11:00 a.m. Friday above 1,500 feet in central Douglas County.

Forecasters at the National Weather Service said snow is expected above 1,500 feet. Total snow accumulations of 1 to 4 inches with 4 to 10 inches in higher terrain to the east.

The Advisory area includes the passes of Interstate 5 between Glendale and Canyonville, Highway 42 near Camas Mountain and portions of Highway 227 from Tiller southward.

Forecasters said travel could be very difficult to impossible. The hazardous conditions could impact commute times.

Drivers should slow down and allow extra time to reach their destination. Motorists should carry tire chains and be prepared for snow covered roads and limited visibilities.
