A Winter Storm Warning is in effect from 11:00 a.m. Thursday through 11:00 a.m. Saturday for mountain areas in southern Oregon.

Forecasters at the National Weather Service said heavy snow is expected. Total snow accumulations of 12 to 24 inches in the Cascades with 6 to 12 inches in the Siskiyou Mountains. Winds will gust as high as 40 miles per hour.

The Warning area includes the South Central and Southern Oregon Cascades and the Siskiyou Mountains. It applies to Highway 62 near Union Creek and Crater Lake, Highway 230, Highway 58 at Willamette Pass and Highway 138 at Diamond Lake, Highway 140 near Lake of the Woods and the Mt. Ashland Ski Road.
