Roseburg Police jailed a man Monday night after he was found with a stolen vehicle.

An RPD report said at 10:30 p.m. officers responded to a residence in the 1500 block of Southeast Marsters Avenue after a caller said the suspect was at that location. When officers arrived, 40-year Matthew Cooksey allegedly jumped a fence and hid in a neighbor’s yard. He was eventually located behind a shed at a nearby residence. Cooksey was taken into custody and was allegedly found to be heavily intoxicated.

Cooksey was charged with unauthorized use of a vehicle, DUII, second-degree criminal trespass, driving uninsured, a violation of driving while suspended and for refusal to take a test for intoxicants.

Cooksey was also held for charges from fleeing a traffic stop on January 3rd. That included a felony count of eluding police, reckless driving, 3 counts of recklessly endangering another and for providing false information. Cooksey was detained without bail.
