MAN JAILED AFTER POLICE CHASE

Deputies with the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office jailed a man following a police chase on Tuesday night.

A DCSO report said just after 5:30 p.m. a deputy spotted a stolen vehicle on Jenny Lane near Myrtle Creek. The deputy attempted to stop the vehicle but the driver took off and a pursuit ensued. The vehicle was chased to the area of Carte Lane and Laura Street where the driver bailed from the vehicle. Deputies chased the suspect on foot as he ran towards Dustin Lane. A deputy told the man that he was under arrest but he refused to stop. A taser was deployed but was unsuccessful. The suspect finally gave up near the 100 block of Dustin Lane and was taken into custody.

30-year old William Michael was allegedly found to be in possession of drugs and restricted weapons. He was held for 12 charges including possession of a stolen vehicle, eluding police in a vehicle and on foot, third-degree escape. 2 counts of being a felon in possession of a restricted weapon, reckless driving, reckless endangering, driving while suspended and for warrants. Michael was held without bail.
