A burn pile that got out of control led to a fire on Tuesday afternoon.

Josh Waechter of Douglas County Fire District Number 2 said crews were dispatched to Karma Lane in Dixonville at about 3:25 p.m. Waechter said initial reports were that the burn pile had spread up a small foothill turning into a quarter of an acre fire. The first arriving crew in a brush unit found that the slow burning fire had grown to a half-acre in heavy brush and blackberry bushes.

Waechter said the initial crew quickly extinguished the fire with help from the property owner.
