DOUGLAS COUNTY WELCOMES NEW LPSCC PROGRAM COORDINATOR

Douglas County Commissioners Tom Kress, Chris Boice and Tim Freeman, along with the Douglas County Juvenile Department have announced that Koree Tate has been hired in a dual role as the Program/Partnership Coordinator for the Local Public Safety Coordinating Council and as the HIPAA Privacy Officer.

A release from county government said Tate will be part of the Douglas County Juvenile Department Team and has been undergoing various training sessions since she started a few weeks ago.

In her new role, Tate will be responsible for the coordination, facilitation and support of LPSCC. It is a statutorily required public body that engages in activities to improve system-wide communication and collaboration related to all local criminal justice policy and planning and to make recommendations to the Board of Commissioners regarding the use of state and county resources to supervise local offenders. As program coordinator, Tate has a long list of duties.

As the HIPAA Privacy Officer, Tate is responsible for policy development in coordination with other areas of county government. She will also develop and implement HIPAA privacy and security training, ensure proper business associate agreements are implemented, conduct risk assessment and investigate and respond to privacy breaches.

Tate spent the last 16 years working as a management assistant with the City of Roseburg.  She graduated from Sutherlin High School and received degrees from Umpqua Community College and Bushnell University in Eugene.
