Deputies with the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office jailed a man after an alleged DUII incident on Thursday.

A DCSO report said just before 5:00 p.m. a business in the 23,000 block of North Umpqua Highway in Idleyld Park said that Zachary Meuser had stolen some gas and was intoxicated. They said employees saw Meuser drink a beer in the parking lot before leaving at a high rate of speed.

There were multiple calls indicating that the man was driving recklessly. He crashed his SUV in front of a business down the road. A deputy contacted Meuser and said the man was unable to perform standard field sobriety tests because his level of intoxication affected his ability to focus and keep his balance. His blood alcohol level was .23, which is nearly 3 times the level of intoxication which can result in being arrested. 2 beer cans were found on the driver’s side floorboard and under the seat, one of which was open and missing its contents.

Meuser was charged with DUII, reckless driving, reckless endangering, third-degree theft and for having an open container. He was detained without bail.
