In the KQEN Cultural Spotlight:

Umpqua Community College Performing and Visual Arts is presenting an afternoon with the UCC Chamber Choir and Umpqua Chamber Orchestra featuring soprano Julie Cherry. The concert will include the premiere of Daughter of Heaven, a new oratorio written by Jason Heald, performed by Ms. Cherry and the UCC Chamber Choir. Daughter of Heaven tells the story of Jean Batten, an aviatrix from New Zealand, who was an aviation sensation during the 1930’s.

The concert will take place Sunday at 3:00 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church on Southeast Lane Avenue in downtown Roseburg. Admission at the door is $10 per person, with students admitted for free. More information, call 541-440-4691 or email: music@umpqua.edu.
