A trooper with Oregon State Police investigated a two-vehicle accident about 7 miles south of Cottage Grove on Wednesday night.

An OSP report said a vehicle lost control during a hailstorm while traveling northbound just before 6:15 p.m. It slid off the right-hand shoulder of the freeway and struck the guardrail. The vehicle then veered back onto the freeway in the path of a commercial motor vehicle and was struck by it. The first vehicle sustained heavy left-side damage and was towed from the scene.
