REPRESENTATIVE COURT BOICE ANNOUNCES OPPOSITION TO SB 603

State Representative Court Boice has announced his opposition to SB 603.

Boice said the legislation has caught the eye of several national media outlets.

A release said Senate Bill 603 would give homeless or low-income individuals in Oregon $1,000 a month for two years. The program would have $25 million to work with, and enrollment would be capped once that money runs out.

Boice said according to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, at least 18,000 individuals were homeless in a single night in Oregon last year.

Boice said, “At a time when inflation is over 8 percent and a dozen eggs costs more than a gallon of gas, this $25 million is an additional burden Oregon taxpayers should not have to bear”. Boice said, “One of the House Republicans’ priorities for the 2023 Legislative Session is fiscal responsibility, nothing about this proposed legislation is responsible”.

Boice representatives Oregon House District 1, which includes Coos, Curry and a portion of Douglas County.
