SOUTH UMPQUA SCHOOL BOARD NAMES FINALISTS FOR SUPERINTENDENT

South Umpqua School Board Names Finalists for Superintendent Noon Mar 8 KB

The South Umpqua School Board has named the finalists for the superintendent position.

The board and a screening advisory committee consisting of school staff, parents, and community members narrowed the applicant pool to three finalists on March 4th. They are:

*Louis Dix: Superintendent of the Grant School District #3 in John Day. Prior to arriving in John Day, Dix held a variety of administrative roles including being an assistant principal at the middle and high school levels, and elementary school principal in the Klamath Falls, Medford, La Grande and Sweet Home school districts. He has over 22 years of administrative experience. Dix received his master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Southern Oregon University.

*Daniel Endicott: He has four years of experience in a variety of administrative roles including being the principal of Sunnyslope Elementary School in Roseburg since 2020. Endicott was also an elementary and middle school principal in Glendale. He has over five years of experience as a middle and high school teacher in the Oakland and Sutherlin school districts. Endicott started his educational career as an instructional assistance in 2012. He received his Master of Arts degree in Curriculum Development and Instructional Technology from the Northwest Christian University.

*David Marshall: Since 2020, Marshall has been the superintendent of schools for the Brookings-Harbor School District. Prior to moving to the coast, he was the Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources in the Hermiston School District for three years. For eight years, Marshall held a variety of administrative roles in the Milton-Freewater school district including assistant superintendent, director of student services and elementary principal. He received his Education Specialist degree from Lewis and Clark college.

Reference checks for the finalists are underway. Each prospective candidate is invited to a Finalist Forum on Thursday from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. At that time, staff, students and community members will have an opportunity to meet the candidates. The event will be held in the library at South Umpqua High School.

Current Superintendent Kate McLoughlin will move to the role of director of student achievement in the upcoming school year.
