Deputies with the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office jailed a Roseburg man following an alleged strangulation incident Wednesday evening.

A DCSO report said at 6:30 p.m. the 27-year old man and a victim were yelling at each other when the suspect allegedly grabbed the victim by the throat to the point where she got light headed. The incident reportedly took place in the 600 block of Cleveland Hill Loop Road in Melrose. The man eventually let go and then was dropped off in Roseburg by another person.

The deputy could not initially locate the suspect but he was taken into custody just after 11:20 a.m. on Thursday.

The man was charged with strangulation. He was detained without bail.
