Deputies with the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office jailed a man for an alleged menacing incident Thursday afternoon.

A DCSO report said just after 2:45 p.m. a person was at a home in the 1000 block of Loredo Drive, west of Roseburg, to repossess a pickup. The 72-year old resident did not think his vehicle should be repossessed and allegedly said he would put a bullet in the other man’s head. The resident then started reaching around his center console. The other man thought he was getting a gun and jumped back in his vehicle to take off. The man said he believed he saw a pistol being pointed at him when he looked back.

The resident then left but eventually agreed to meet with deputies in Lookingglass. The resident admitted to most everything but denied having a gun and said he was reaching for his phone.

The resident was charged with menacing. He was detained without bail.
