Oregon State Police have released information on a serious traffic accident involving a Douglas County Sheriff’s Deputy which took place late Monday night.

The OSP report said just after 11:20 p.m. the deputy was responding to a domestic dispute on Highway 38 between Elkton Transfer Road and Paradise Creek Road in the Elkton area. While traveling westbound, the deputy lost control of the SUV after hitting thick hail on the road. The vehicle left the roadway, striking a tree, before coming to a rest against a second tree.

The report said the deputy was extricated by another deputy. The driver was transported by ambulance to CHI Mercy Medical Center.

Captain Kyle Kennedy of OSP said no further updates are available at this time.
