MAN JAILED ON 18 CHARGES FOLLOWING ALLEGED ASSAULT INCIDENT

Roseburg Police jailed a man on 18 charges following an alleged assault incident on Tuesday.

An RPD report said just after 9:15 a.m. 32-year old Travis January allegedly kicked in the door to a victim’s apartment in the 1200 block of Northeast Malheur Avenue. He then reportedly held a knife to the throat of another victim. During the altercation January also allegedly punched the second victim and made several threatening statements about killing both victims.

January allegedly dragged the first victim out of the apartment before neighbors intervened and called law enforcement. January fled from the residence in his vehicle. Officers located it and a pursuit was initiated. After a chase covering several miles, January ditched his vehicle and attempted to flee on foot before being taken into custody outside a home in Green.

Charges included 4th-degree assault, attempted 2nd-degree assault, 1st-degree forced burglary, 2 counts each of menacing, reckless endangering and unlawful use of a weapon, 2nd-degree counts of disorderly conduct, criminal mischief, harassment and theft. Other charges were added.

January was detained without bail.
