A Winter Storm Warning remains in effect from 4:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday above 1,500 feet in central Douglas County and its eastern foothills.

Forecasters at the National Weather Service said heavy snow is expected. Total snow accumulations of 7 to 14 inches, but locally 10 to 20 inches over the Umpqua Divide and in the Cascade foothills. Winds will gust as high as 45 miles per hour.

The Warning area includes Highway 138 and especially east of Toketee Falls and Highway 227 south of Tiller, as well as Camas Mountain and the Interstate 5 passes south of Canyonville.

Forecasters said travel could be very difficult to impossible. Patchy blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility. The hazardous conditions could improve the morning or evening commute.

Travel is strongly discouraged because of dangerous conditions. Those who must travel should keep tire chains, a flashlight, blankets, food, water, medications and a fully charged phone with them.
