Deputies with the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office jailed a man for possession of a stolen vehicle Friday night.

A DCSO report said just before 6:45 p.m. a deputy checked on a vehicle along Interstate 5 southbound about a mile south of the Drain exit. The front end of the SUV was smoking and had heavy front-end damage. Dispatchers said the vehicle had been reported stolen out of Portland. A 53-year old man was the only occupant of the vehicle.

He was taken into custody without incident. The vehicle was towed away.
