County Commissioners Tom Kress, Chris Boice and Tim Freeman, along with the Douglas County Senior Services Department have given Sue Allen the Douglas County Senior Services Volunteer of the Month award for this month.

Commissioner Kress presented Allen with the award at the Bistro Sixty Senior Dining Site in Glendale on February 17th. The facility is on Glendale Town Road, inside the Special Peoples Depot.

Allen has been volunteering at Bistro Sixty Glendale for seven years. She moved to Douglas County 13 years ago to be near her children and grandchildren. After 40 years working for Safeway, Allen is dedicating her retirement to volunteering in the community. Along with helping at Bistro Sixty, Allen also volunteers at her church.

Bistro Sixty Senior Dining Sites prepare meals on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays at 7 rural dining site locations in Glide, Reedsport, Riddle, Sutherlin, Winston and Yoncalla, as well as in Glendale. Residents who know of friends or family who are unable to drive, need assistance with daily living activities, would benefit from a hot meal or need other assistance, can call the Aging & Disabilities Resource Connection in the Senior Services Department at 440-3677.
