WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY SUNDAY, WINTER STORM WATCH MONDAY

A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect from 1:00 a.m. through 4:00 p.m. Sunday above 2,000 feet with a Winter Storm Watch in place from 4:00 a.m. Monday through 4:00 a.m. Tuesday above 1,500 feet for much of southern Oregon.

Forecasters at the National Weather Service said total snow accumulations of 2 to 6 inches are expected during the Advisory with winds gusting as high as 40 miles per hour. For the Watch, 4 to 10 inches of snow are forecast with winds gusting up to 45 miles per hour.

It is for central Douglas County and its eastern foothills, Josephine and Jackson counties and eastern Curry County.

This includes Highway 138 east of Steamboat and portions of highways 140, 62 and 227.

Forecasters said travel could be very difficult to impossible. Gusty winds could bring down tree branches.

Drivers should slow down and allow extra time to reach their destinations. Carry tire chains and be prepared for snow covered roads and limited visibilities.
