February 24, 2023 2;50 p.m.

A Winter Storm Watch is in effect from 4:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Sunday above 2,500 feet for much of southern Oregon.

Forecasters at the National Weather Service said heavy snow is possible above 2,500 feet. Total snow accumulations of 5 to 8 inches are possible. Winds could gust as high as 35 miles per hour.

The Watch area is for central Douglas County and its eastern foothills, Jackson and Josephine counties, and for eastern Curry County. That includes Toketee Falls and Butte Falls, Highway 138 east of Steamboat, and portions of highways 140, 62 and 227.

Forecasters said travel could be very difficult. Snow levels could drop as low as 1,500 feet through the time frame, bringing a chance for snow at lower elevations.
