Douglas County Clerk Daniel Loomis is reminding residents that the Special Districts Election is coming up on May 16th and the deadline to file for a special district candidacy is March 16th.

A release from the County Clerk’s Office said special districts act an independent form of governance addressing a specific community need for local communities such as schools, roads, water, fire protection, hospitals, parks and recreation, transportation and more.

Loomis said there are currently 222 special district board positions open for filing in the county during the upcoming election.
