The Celebration of Literacy continues through the end of the month.

It is presented by Altrusa International and the Umpqua Literacy Council and has taken place for 22 years.

This year’s literacy play continues in the Jacoby Auditorium on the campus of Umpqua Community College. It is being performed this Wednesday and Friday, and next Tuesday February 28th at 10:00 a.m. Approximately 900 students are registered to see each of the performances.

The regional competition for the Oregon Battle of the Books is this Saturday in Coos Bay. The region consists of students from Douglas and Coos counties.
