COMMISSIONERS ISSUE PROCLAMATION FOR FOUR CHAPLAINS DAY

February 2, 2023 11:00 a.m.

On Wednesday, Douglas County Commissioners issued a proclamation at their weekly business meeting calling upon all citizens of the county to observe Four Chaplains Day on Friday.

A County release said for more than seventy years, the Chapel of the Four Chaplains has told their story and supported the Legion of Honor Awards program all across the country. It publicly recognizes and honors outstanding members of society whose lives model the giving spirit and unconditional service to community, nation and humanity, without regard to race, religion or creed, exemplified by the Four Chaplains.

Commissioner Tim Freeman presented proclamation certificates to the county’s Legion of Honor co-coordinators Jim Little and James Barnett. Both are veterans who served in the U.S. Navy and U.S. Marine Corp, respectively. A large number of previous local Legion of Honor recipients were in attendance.
