Deputies with the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office jailed a pair of Elkton residents following an incident on Sunday.

A DCSO report said a Sutherlin Police officer notified a deputy that he had probable cause for arresting a 36-year old man associated with an older motor home that was currently located in Elkton.

The deputy responded to the 300 block of Second Street in Elkton and saw the suspect run inside a residence. The deputy questioned a 30-year old woman who was with the motorhome. She allegedly gave a false name and said she would go into the residence and get the suspect. The woman came out a few minutes later and claimed that the suspect had run out the back door.

The report said a resident came out and gave the woman’s real name and date of birth. The resident said the woman had hidden the male suspect in a shed behind the residence, after telling him that the deputy was looking for him. The resident led the deputy through the house to the shed, but the woman had allegedly run around the house and warned the suspect, who then climbed out a window, and jumped a fence.

Ultimately, multiple law enforcement units arrived on the scene and searched the area. The suspect was located hiding under bushes on a neighboring property and arrested for multiple warrants. The woman was arrested for giving false information to a police officer and for interfering with a peace officer. The pair was taken into custody shortly after 9:00 a.m.
