CITY ACCEPTING PLANNING COMMISSION APPLICANTS

December 14, 2022 11:05 a.m.

The City of Roseburg is accepting applications from residents who’d like to serve on the Roseburg Planning Commission.

A release said the current vacancy must be filled by someone who lives within the city limits. The resignation of Commissioner Victoria Hawks was accepted on Monday.

Commissioners serve four-year terms unless they are filling a vacant unexpired term. The person appointed to fill this vacancy would serve until December of 2026.

The Planning Commission considers long- and short-range land-use development issues within the city and urban growth boundary. The commission makes decisions based on City Land Use and Development Regulations.

The group reviews and acts on quasi-judicial applications filed by land owners and/or their agents as well as legislative applications initiated by the City. Some actions are a recommendation forwarded to the city council for further consideration, while other decisions are final unless appealed to the council.

The commission meets at 7:00 p.m. on the first Thursday of each month. At least six commission members must be Roseburg residents. The seventh member can live within the city’s urban growth boundary.

Interviews of candidates are tentatively scheduled to take place before the 7:00 p.m. city council meeting on January 23rd. Qualified applicants will be contacted to set up interviews.
