AIR STAGNATION ADVISORY THROUGH 4:00 A.M. SATURDAY

December 14, 2022 5:20 a.m.

An Air Stagnation Advisory is in effect through 4:00 a.m. Saturday in the valleys of southwest and south-central Oregon.

Forecasters at the National Weather Service said stagnant air is expected, which may lead to deteriorating air quality.

An Urgent Weather Message from the NWS said this will take place especially in and near areas with significant sources of air pollution. Diminished air quality is likely to cause health issues for people with respiratory problems if precautions are not taken.

Forecasters said a weak weather system is forecast to arrive over the weekend, which may allow for some minor mixing and a reduction of air stagnation conditions.

People with respiratory illness should follow their physician’s advice.

State air quality agencies highly recommend that residential wood burning devices be limited as much as possible.
