SUTHERLIN POLICE JAIL MAN AFTER HE ALLEGEDLY WIELDED A WEAPON

Sutherlin Police jailed a man after he allegedly wielded a weapon Monday afternoon.

An SPD report said just after 4:00 p.m. 33-year old Elijah Gomez was allegedly looking through mailboxes on South Comstock Street. He was contacted near the corner of Duke Avenue and Hawthorne Street. While the officer spoke with the suspect, he allegedly produced a chain with a lock and tried to use it as a weapon. He then resisted arrest, according to the report.

Gomez was charged with menacing, second-degree disorderly conduct, resisting arrest and for a probation violation. He was detained without bail.
