WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY FOR THURSDAY ABOVE 2,500 FEET

A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for Thursday from 4:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. above 2,500 feet.

An Urgent Winter Weather Message from the National Weather Service said snow accumulations of 3 to 6 inches is expected above 2,500 feet. Higher amounts are possible at elevations above 4,000 feet, especially in the Coast Range.

The Advisory area includes central Douglas County, the eastern Douglas County foothills, Josephine and Jackson counties and eastern Curry County.

Forecasters said travel could be difficult due to reduced visibility from blowing snow and slick roads. Hazardous conditions could impact the morning or evening commute. The periods of heaviest snow will be late Thursday morning into the early afternoon. There is a slight chance that snowfall rates reach 1 inch per hour.
