In the KQEN Cultural Spotlight:

Umpqua Community College’s Visual and Performing Arts department will have the play, “The 39 Steps” on stage Thursday through Sunday. It is produced by UCC’s new associate professor and director of theatre, Bart McHenry. It is action-packed with a storyline about an ordinary man on the run for his life, after meeting a woman who turns out to be a spy.

The Tony-Award winner was inspired by a 1915 novel and a subsequent 1935 film directed by Alfred Hitchcock.

The cast of five each play many different characters during the course of the show.

“The 39 Steps” is playing Thursday through Saturday night at 7:00 p.m. and Sunday afternoon at 3:00 p.m. at UCC’s Centerstage Theatre in the Whipple Fine Arts Building.

Admission is $10, cash-only at the door.
