Aviva Health is hosting a grand opening for the county’s only milk-drop site on Friday December 9th from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at its main Roseburg clinic on Kenneth Ford Drive, just north of Roseburg.

The site is in partnership with Northwest Mothers Milk Bank and Healthy Start. A release said the site will serve as a breastmilk collection location for breastfeeding mothers who wish to donate. After completing a simple screening process, donors can drop off their frozen mile at Aviva Health. The milk is then collected and pasteurized by NWMMB and distributed to communities across Oregon where it is used in neonatal intensive care units to feed premature and ill infants.

The release said by opening its own milk-drop site, Aviva Health is providing an opportunity for local breastfeeding mothers to help save lives. The milk drop is open weekly from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
