Two people were transported to the hospital after a single-vehicle accident on Sunday.

An Oregon State Police report said at 1:10 p.m. the driver of a northbound sedan lost control of his vehicle on Interstate Five near the Tri City interchange. The vehicle veered off the right-hand shoulder of the roadway and struck a tree. The sedan spun and came to rest in a ditch. The passenger said the driver, his wife, passed out while driving prior to the crash, due to a medical event. The driver is in fair condition while the passenger was treated and released at CHI Mercy Medical Center, according to a hospital spokesperson.

The sedan sustained heavy damage and air bag deployment. It was towed from the accident scene.
