Captain Kurt Sorenson said at about 7:00 p.m. officers responded to the 700 block of East Sixth Avenue after a report of suspicious circumstances. Sorenson said a caller indicated that two people who didn’t belong in the area were there and were associated with two vehicles. Sorenson said a loaded firearm was located concealed on Rummel’s person. It was listed as stolen out of Springfield. One of the cars was listed as being stolen from out of Roseburg.

Sorenson said as officers investigated, they allegedly found several pounds of marijuana, body armor, suspected psilocybin mushrooms and suspected fentanyl.

Rummel was charged with being a felon in possession of both a firearm and body armor, possession of a stolen vehicle, unlawful possession/concealment of firearms, third-degree theft, hindering prosecution and unlawful possession of marijuana.
