SEARCH AND RESCUE INFORMATIONAL MEETING THURSDAY NIGHT

November 16, 2022 10:50 a.m.

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue is recruiting volunteers ages 17 and up.

Potential volunteers can learn more about SAR at an informational meeting Thursday night at 6:00 p.m. at the Oregon State University Extension Office on Southeast Douglas Avenue, just east of the courthouse. Topics to be covered include: the mission of SAR, various units that need volunteers, and what it takes to become a certified volunteer. Those who attend will be able to ask questions, speak with active volunteers and complete an application.

Along with volunteers who want to search for lost and missing people on foot, DCSO needs experienced horse riders who can provide their own horses and equipment, radio operators and logistics personnel.

Call DCSO at 440-4464 for more information about SAR.
