Five people were injured with three taken to the hospital, after a vehicle drove into Seven Thai Restaurant in the 700 block of Northwest Garden Valley Boulevard in Roseburg at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Fire Chief Tyler Christopherson of the Roseburg Fire Department said a minivan driven by a 94-year old woman went through the glass pane front of the restaurant and struck several people that were seated at the tables. Two patients were trapped under the vehicle and were trauma patients who were transported to CHI Mercy Medical Center. Three additional people had injuries with one of those also going to the hospital.

Christopherson said statements to police officers on scene revealed that the driver had inadvertently pushed down on the gas pedal instead of the brake. The driver was not injured and was cited for careless driving. The minivan was removed from the building.
