November 5, 2022 5:00 p.m.

A Winter Storm Warning and a Winter Advisory are in effect for mountain areas in southern Oregon from 10:00 a.m. Sunday through 4:00 a.m. Monday.

This applies to the South Central and Southern Oregon Cascades and the Siskiyou Mountains, including Crater Lake and Diamond Lake.

Heavy snow is expected with total accumulations of 8 to 14 inches for locations in the Warning area and 6 to 10 inches for locations in the Advisory area. Winds will gust up to 45 miles per hour.

Forecasters at the National Weather Service said travel could be very difficult to dangerous with breezy winds, snow covered roads, and lowering visibilities. Snowfall rates will be most intense from late Sunday afternoon through Sunday evening and could approach an inch an hour at times.

Travel is strongly discouraged because of dangerous conditions.

A Winter Storm Warning means that severe winter weather is likely and poses a threat to life and property. Forecasters say take protective action now.
