The Douglas County Public Works Department has closed North Fork Smith River Road near milepost 6 on Highway 48 due to a landslide that occurred between Wednesday night and Thursday morning.

Staff at the Douglas County Public Works Department said both lanes of travel are currently blocked with large boulders and other debris. DCPW crews have deployed equipment to the area to clear the debris. It is currently unknown how long the road will remain closed.

Drivers should seek alternate routes if they are traveling in this area.
