The City of Roseburg Community Development Department and the Roseburg Economic Development Commission are now taking applications for fall tourism grants.
A City release said the program is funded through the Roseburg transient lodging tax, collected within the city limits. A spring and fall grant cycle are offered.
Community Development Director Stuart Cowie said “The City is excited about the opportunity to possibly provide tourism grants to those seeking to draw tourists to our area and to showcase out beautiful city and surrounding community”.
For this grant cycle, applications are being accepted from registered businesses, registered 501C3 organizations and other 501C tax-exempt organizations, and governmental entities through 5:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 21st. Online applications can be found at: https://www.cityofroseburg.org/departments/community-development/links.
The release said grants are typically made for things such as advertising, publicizing, or distributing information to market special events and festivals designed to attract tourists or to attract and welcome tourists at tourism-related facilities; or capitol improvement projects that have a substantial purpose of supporting tourism or accommodating tourism activities.
The commission is especially interested in events and projects that entice people to visit between Labor Day and Memorial Day, but all applications are strongly encouraged. The Economic Development Commission will review and consider all applications and vote on submissions early next year. For more information, call the Community Development Department at 492-6750.
