Two people were taken to the hospital following a wreck on Interstate 5 southbound Saturday afternoon.

An Oregon State Police report said at 3:25 p.m. an SUV was in the left lane about a half-mile north of the Roberts Mountain summit when the driver lost control, crashing head on into the guardrail on the shoulder of the roadway. The vehicle then bounced back into the right lane where it was struck by a sedan. Both the driver and the passenger in the SUV were transported to CHI Mercy Medical Center. The driver of the other vehicle was not injured.

Both vehicles had to be towed away.
