Deputies with the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office jailed a man following an alleged chase and elude incident late Wednesday night.

A DCSO report said just before midnight a deputy saw a sedan traveling west on Upper Smith River Road in the Drain area and observed it commit a vehicle code violation. The deputy said the vehicle accelerated once it passed his patrol vehicle. The deputy turned his vehicle around and attempted to overtake the sedan, which was allegedly traveling at speeds ranging from 70 to 90 miles per hour.

The deputy activated his lights and the sedan continued to flee. The deputy saw the sedan make a sharp turn near the 2000 block. He lost sight of it for a brief moment but when he came around a corner, he observed tire slide marks and saw the sedan in the middle of the roadway. The sedan was unoccupied.

Additional deputies arrived and a K9 track was started. After an approximately one-mile track, 38-year old Danny Anderson was located. He was taken into custody and charged with attempting to elude a police officer in a vehicle and on foot, reckless driving and for a warrant out of Lane County. Anderson was detained without bail.
