Residential leaf pickup will begin soon in the City of Roseburg.

A City release said from the week of October 31st through January 6th, the Public Works Department will offer that service for residents.

Crews follow a cyclical route to help residents with leaf disposal and ensure leaf collection can be provided in an effective, cost-controlled program. Last year crews picked up 824 cubic yards of leaves. That is equivalent to 82 standard dump truck loads and comes at no cost to homeowners.

The release said weekday pickups begin in the Laurelwood neighborhood, then move west to the Harvard Avenue area. From there, collections move in a clockwise route, ending in the Mill-Pine Historic District.

Each cycle through Roseburg’s neighborhoods takes about a month, depending on the quantities of leaves picked up. Residents can see pickup route updates on the Public Works Department’s leaf pickup page: https://www.cityofroseburg.org/departments/public-works/leaf-program

Residents must pile leaves neatly on the edge of their property or on the street in front of their property and away from the curb prior to pick up. Other reminders for those using the program include:

*Make sure leaf piles are free of other debris like branches and rocks

*Leaves should not be piled near parked vehicles

*Residents are responsible for any hazards they create for others by the placement of their leaves

*Leaves should be placed away from drainage structures

Those who want leaves for their property can have them delivered free of charge. The minimum amount that will be delivered is equivalent to one dump truck load. Call the Public Works Department at 492-6730 for details.
