The City of Roseburg is taking applications to fill a City Council vacancy following the resignation of Sheri Moothart on October 3rd.
A City release said the mayor and councilors are non-salaried, volunteer positions elected by Roseburg residents. Roseburg is divided into four wards with two councilors representing each ward. Councilors serve a four-year term while the mayor is up for election every two years.
Candidate to fill the vacant seat must live in Ward 1. This is the northeast section of Roseburg. A ward boundary map is linked: https://www.cityofroseburg.org/storage/app/media/Council/2022%20Ward%20Map.pdf
Applications are due by 5:00 p.m. on November 4th. Interested residents can apply online: www.cityofroseburg.org. Forms can also be picked up at City Hall.
Councilors will set up interviews with candidates, which will take place during a public city council meeting. A replacement will be appointed to serve until the end of 2024.
